WHAT YOU'LL LEARN...
✔ A quick sketch in chalk will guide our first steps.
✔ Using short angled strokes, you'll block in the main limbs of the tree with palette knife.
✔ It's good to work angles as you begin adding the colorful foliage, so your tree has plenty of movement.
✔ It's important to add "sky breaks" throughout your foliage - you don't fill all the space around the trunk and branches with leaves.
✔ You want a gradation through your pops of sky; subtly shifting from a warmer to a cooler blue can add a lot of depth.
✔ Allow your colors to cross-pollinate while you work with your palette knife...it adds a lot of interest and vivacity to a painting.
